I am very happy to learn that Woni Safaris is operating successful Eco Tours in the Lukenya region of Machakos district. This is because since 2003 we have been doing Feasibility studies to see how best we can open up the Ukambani region to tourism. Listening to my friend narrate how Woni’s clients enjoyed their visit to Lukenya is a dream come true as this is what our hopes and desires have been.

What came out strongly from my friends narration of the tour was the opportunity that the clients got with interacting with the local community and seeing how they conduct their day to day lives starting with some of the economic activities of the area namely querry mining, sand harvesting and subsistence farming. We would therefore call this Eco Tour “a people to people” tour which is more geared to tourism diversification from the usual traditional wildlife safaris and beach holidays to something totally different. These tourist have now been given a opportunity to get to know another Kenyan tribe, the Akamba, as I know they will definitely get to visit a Maasai village either in Amboseli , Samburu or the Masai Mara

The tourist of today as we know them wants originality and a sense of affiliation, they seek to have an impact on the places they visit, and I believe this is what Woni Safaris is looking for. Am therefore looking forward to seeing these clients comments in this very popular and interactive Blog
