Samburu Serena Lodge is nestled amidst the acacia groves that border the crocodile-filled reaches of the Uaso Nyiro River, the lodge stands center-stage to miles of lion-stalked grasslands, elephant-studded plains and wildlife-teeming bush. Samburu Serena Safari Lodge is situated on the fertile banks of the Uaso Nyiro River, in the center of the Samburu National Reserve in Kenyas rugged, semi-arid Northern frontier, Samburu Serena Lodge echoes the robust rhythms of the riverfront life. The rustic yet convivial lodge blends with the environment by making full use of native materials. Accommodation All 62 guest rooms have private verandahs that overlook the river where crocodiles feed in full view. The surrounding terrain is renown for rare game long necked gerenuk, grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe and besia oryx. Leopards are frequent passerby. Game drives and bird watching safaris are the ideal way to experience the native wildlife in its natural splendor. Wildlife As for wildlife, Samburu provides one of the few sanctuaries in Kenya for the endangered Grevy’s zebra, the rare beisa oryx and the blue-shanked Somali ostrich whilst large herds of elephant roam the gaunt hills during the day before returning to bathe on the banks of the river in the evening. Access is by road a distance of 330 kilometers approximately 5 hours drive or a 60-minute flight on scheduled flight.
