| Considered to be the best Lodge in Lake Nakuru National Park, Sarova Lion Hill is set on a plateau, overlooking one of the world's greatest ornithological spectacles in what is regarded as the heart of Kenya’s Rift Valley. The lodge gets its name from the hill directly behind it that was a lion's abode. Lion Hill has 67 chalets that all face Lake Nakuru, and neighbors one of the key bird look outs in Kenya. The panoramic view from the Lodge reveals a shimmering pink glow across the Lake, created by millions of flamingos, pelicans and marabou storks; the landscape blossoms natural foliage and a startling variety of flower gardens. The accommodation also consists of a number of suites; other facilities are the Rift Valley Bar, The Flamingo Restaurant and two conference halls. The area is full of unusual environments including strange cactus-like Euphorbia trees and eerie forests of flakey-barked Fever trees 100 feet tall. It has also become renowned for its daytime Leopard sightings. This exotic park also boasts a rich concentration of wildlife including black and white Colobus Monkeys and is also a famed Rhino sanctuary. Look for temperamental black Rhinos browsing on bushes, and larger white Rhinos cropping the grass along the lakeside. Nowhere else will you get a photo of a Rhino backed by a mirage of pastel pink Flamingos on a shimmering soda lake. The climate is hot and dry during the day; cool at night March-June are the rainy months |
