Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge

The Serengeti Serena Lodge offers the finest ‘hotel style’ accommodations in the Central Serengeti. Expect comfortable rooms, good food, a lively atmosphere and a full array of facilities including a swimming pool, massive lounge and dinning area, gift shop and even internet access. Situated on a hilltop just north of Seronera, the Serengeti Serena Lodge offers commanding views of the wooded savannah below. Traditional African architecture and natural stone and thatched materials combine to form a uniquely designed safari lodge. The rooms consist of thatched, round huts (called rondavels) and each has a private wooden balcony.

Accommodations consist of 66 stone built, traditionally thatched round huts or rondavels. Each rondavel is two levels and contains three rooms. There is one room on the top floor and two rooms on the bottom. All three rooms are identical in terms of size and floor plan but the top rooms have the better views. The top rooms can be requested but because of availability issues they cannot be guaranteed. Never the less, we always automatically request the top room in each rondavel for every booking. Out of the 66 total rooms, there are 20 triples, 23 doubles (1 king size bed), 20 twins (2 twin beds), 2 handicap rooms and 1 suite.

The main lodge facilities are at the top and center of the hill while the rondavels are positioned around the perimeter of the hill. The main guest areas are very impressive and offer great views. The massive dinning room is well decorated with various artifacts, sculptures and wooden carvings. Equally impressive is the lounge and bar area, which makes for a great place to mingle with other guests and share the safari highlights for the day. There is a very good gift shop on the premises and a large swimming pool. Internet access and laundry services are available at an additional cost.
